About the archive

Ottoman Souvenir brings together writing, paintings, calligraphy, photographs, and objects that illuminate the history of the Ottoman world and the cultural richness of Anatolia.

The collections range from imperial palaces and Yıldız porcelain to poetry, proverbs, cuisine, traditional instruments, and the lives of painters and calligraphers.

A continuing collection

The original website described a collection that would never be completely finished. This edition carries that spirit forward, preserving its cultural texts and original images in a form that is easier to read and explore.

Texts retain their original historical perspectives. Artwork captions and attributions come from the surviving archive; missing dates and authors are left unspecified. Original image files remain available alongside the gallery views.
